It all started with the birth of my son, which prompted me to make a decision to put my teaching career on hold. Once I realized that I could not bear not being with him majority of the time, I put 110% of my energy into raising him. After a few months of being a SAHM (stay at home mom), I realized that I needed another outlet to express myself creatively and not just be known as my son's mom.
 

In an effort to be creative and find a hobby, my mom and I started messing around with some of our costume jewelry made of beads. Initially I created beaded bookmarks for friends and family that were elegant and not run of the mill ribbon or card stock. The more I made and gave as gifts the more I began receiving orders for more. The more design work I did with beads the more excitement I experienced! From that point on I was determined to make a go of it and create a small business. I brainstormed for company names that would suit my ideas. I was amazed at how many different bead names were taken. Finally it came upon me; beads, ladies, treasures, elegant; Beady Queen. 

 I have since opened a successful online store, have retailers that carry my beaded treasures and allowed my beaded bookmarks to evolve to custom beaded jewelry, children's jewelry, eyeglass chains, peeper keepers, beaded gifts and the launch of a Beady King product line. With all that is going on with my business and my son who is a mile a minute, I am blessed to stay busy and would not trade it for the world!
